Disney's Old Key West Resort review
My review of Disney's Old Key West Resort. I really enjoyed this resort, it is one of Disney's Vacation Club resorts but any guest can book in it.
It had a pretty laid back atmosphere with great scenic views. I loved having the boat to take us directly to Disney Springs. I think I just love the boat rides though. Our little balcony was pretty relaxing, giving us a nice view of the golf course. The resort was pretty calm, not many guests around which was nice.
Many people dislike this resort since it is not directly next to any of the parks and is fairly large resort grounds. I didn't feel it was a long distance when we traveled by bus. We did request and was a room close enough to the Main guest house and bus stop which worked out great for us. I could see how some may not love it if you have to take internal shuttle from one part of resort to the other. It could waste some time. It is definitely better to have your own vehicle at this resort.
This resort has spacious rooms, offering standard rooms, one bedroom suites and two bedroom suites. Normally one can find a pretty good deal at this resort as well under promotions released! The suites offer a small kitchenette which can be useful to some families!!
Although the resort was pretty, there really wasn't anything there that shouted 'Disney' to me. This can sometimes be nice to escape from the "DISNEY' hype all around everywhere else.
Resort park transportation is good due to low crowds at stops. The busses will run around the resort and direct to designated parks.
A snack bar for quick service is available but no late hours. It is not a full food court however. I like having a food court available open till midnight like some other resorts have.
I would recommend this resort but it's not for everyone. If you want the extreme deluxe comfort, have a car, need the amenities it offers and want to enjoy the resort more so than the parks, this would be a great fit.
