Behind the Seeds Tour at EPCOT

The Behind the Seeds Tour available at EPCOT

I completed another tour offered by Disney.
The Behind the Seeds tour. This tour ROCKED!
It is offered in EPCOT and based off the Living with the Land attraction.
It takes you behind the 'seeds' to educate you on how they operate their massive green house, how they combat bugs and what it also provides to Disney World.
This is also one of the cheapest tours offered by Walt Disney World®.
The price is $25.00 per adult (ages 10 & up), $20.00 per child (ages 3-9).
Pass holders do get 15% discount as well!
The tour lasts approximately an hour, available most days at thefollowing time slots:
10:30 am
11:15 am
12:00 pm
12:45 pm
1:30 pm
2:15 pm
3:00 pm
3:45 pm
4:30 pm
The check in desk is right next to the Soarin' attraction kiosk. It does have a nice sign to clearly mark the check in location.
I do suggest checking in 15 minutes prior to tour time.
I so want to tell you all the cool tidbits we learned but also don't want to spoil it. If you keep reading... that is on you!!
This green house supplies many of the restaurants on property. I thought they only supplied to Garden Grill. The restaurants only have to submit an order to them for a fresh delivery. Some chefs will order special spices for just experimenting! I like to hear that since it demonstrates the chef enjoys their job and are searching for ways to improve!
The items are picked daily, you can't get any fresher produce than that.
We were provided a fresh sample of Cucumber while there and It was delicious. I would actually love to do this tour again!
This is a fine tuned greenhouse. Constant calculations to know exactly how much water is needed at each stage in plants development. It is fascinating and all eco friendly. The water used is recycled within it's system and used again.
We took a tour of the insect room where they are constantly studyingthe common bugs that wreak havoc on crops. This is the total geek in me coming out and just loving the information obtained!
Our guide even told us how to create our own hydroponic garden.
We also checked out the Fish & prawn. They feed the fish constantly during the day. We were able to feed them as well!
This is a walking tour, you will be walking some and standing still most of time.
Take an hour out of your time to enjoy this must see tour! Well worth it!!!
