What’s the deal with the Minnie Van?
I will admit, I have used them quite a few times and thoroughly enjoy the splurge~

It was great, super easy to use and can be very convenient.

The Minnie Van is run through Lyft. So you would need the APP for Lyft on your phone.

Before you can request a Minnie Van service, you will need to have your resort register you as being a guest. They do this by entering your phone number into their system. Once complete, you can now have the Minnie Van as an option for transportation.
Woohoo. That was easy.

Now the trick, when is it worth it????
$25.00 per ride. Can hold up to 6 guests in car. It held us(party of 5), our stroller and we used a car seat that came with car. If you have multi toddlers, they do only offer 2 carseats and have limited trunk space.

I feel best use is to come back from a park at end of day to resort. When you’re completely beat and can’t stand thought of waiting for a bus or other transportation mode to get back to Resort.
Second best use, when trying to get to a location that would otherwise require multi Disney transportation modes. Example: resort to resort or park to Disney Springs.

To me, you’re just not saving a great amount of time or energy when using in morning ride to get to a park.
You’re not dropped off very close to all the parks.
They all drop off or pick up within bus parking area.
Animal kingdom it is the furthest point of bus lanes where you are dropped off or picked up magic kingdom is the closest point within bus lanes. Hollywood Studios is farther out for location and EPCOT is about Midway.

Depending on how far you are traveling, I would also consider the regular Lyft car service.

Things to consider, When you are using the Minnie Van, you have a Disney employed driver. They operate by the Disney Rules which carries a lot of weight. Two Car seats come with every car. You know exactly what car you will receive and condition expected.

When using the Lyft driver, it’s a regular person not mandated or controlled under Disney’s guidelines.  They don’t always have a car seat and you may need to request one. You never know what type of car you are getting into. It can be much cheaper using the regular Lyft service.
I paid $6. To get from wilderness Lodge back to Contemporary.  Total time Wait & drive=10 minutes.  (don’t ask, yes, I know there is a quick boat ) the boat could have taken altogether 45 minutes depending on where the boat was when we walked to the dock.  We didn’t feel like walking anymore at that point. The kids were complaining about the bugs on the dock so we sat it out and called Lyft. I think we earned our lazy ears that day.

When requesting either driver for service , it has taken about 5-7 minutes for our driver to reach us. You can watch on the APP exactly where the car is and it’s proximity to you.

You can schedule in advance for a pickup as well if you need a more exact pick up time.

Once I requested the Minnie Van while at a park but the Disney resort bus beat the Van -I quickly cancelled the van and hopped on the bus. We were on a time crunch and I wanted to have my options.

One other note to keep in mind, The minnie vans are very popular at night and you may have a longer time waiting or being an assigned one. You can only request a Minnie Van at a certain distance to the pick up location. This means, you can't request one in Frontierland within Magic Kingdom. It will give you an error message. If they are busy and there are not many available, it may take a bit trying to secure one via APP. Keep trying if you want to use it.

I have used both and will consider both for each future use as well. I honestly feel more comfortable using the Minnie Van over regular driver when my kids are with me.

I also love conversing with the Drivers. You never know what neat Disney trivia you can pick up from their personal experiences working there!

I hope this helps and if you need more advice , please email me at dealingwithdisney@gmail.com

I always recommend using a travel Agent. Using one is typically free ( if using a legit one ) and they have that extensive knowledge to get the done details worked out. If you need recommendations on any, let me know!!
