My thoughts on Jungle Navigation Co. LTD skipper canteen dining at Magic Kingdom

My thoughts on Jungle Navigation Co. LTD skipper canteen dining at Magic Kingdom

First let me say, I have eaten here a few times.

My meals have always been great.
The service...... not the best. It could definitely improve.. It is not bad enough to make me turn away from.
I love the feeling of the dining location. I love the Corny lines that come from the wait staff. I also enjoy the food. So far, those are outweighing the service.

I love looking at all the fascinating decor that makes up the place!

I do see many reviews that give this place a 'meh' reputation. I would encourage a try but at least with the acknowledgement you may not love the service. It is also good to have an open palate. Definitely NOT the best place for picky eaters or kids that are.

This is a great place to utilize the Dining plan but also a place to pay out of pocket.
Prices here are not crazy high (talking in Disney prices).

The cuisine is made up from the countries that the Jungle Cruise would have gone through; African, Asian, Latin cuisines!

It is fairly easy to get last minute reservations here as well due to it's not so popular rep. ( I have to call it what it is). I do actually prefer the dining here over the other restaurants inside Magic Kingdom.  Liberty Tavern is a close second. If I am with my children (who are picky), I am won't pick this location. MY kids are extremely picky though. Here they do at least still offer mac & cheese(so yummy), Tiki Tiki shrimp which is like popcorn shrimp & chicken fingers.

My latest experience here we decided to just order appetizers as our meals. The portions were plentiful and tasty enough to do this. Very fair price as well going this route. The total cost was on par with a typical quick service meal yet much more flavorful plus the fact you are waited on.

ok, you may not be waited on as one would expect.. it is lacking.. For instance If I had to ask the manager after 18minutes of sitting down when someone might come over just to take my drink order ~at that point we can remove the 'waited on' part.

I enjoyed the S.E.A. Shu Mai which is steamed dumplings filled with pork, shrimp & Edamame Beans. I was on the fence with the Falls Family Falafel.
The appetizers are average at $11. each.

Some very amazing collections are also housed here!

Walt's wife Lilly collected butterflies. Her collection now resides inside the restaurant. You can always ask to sit near it if you don't mind waiting on it. I would recommend this!
This one inspired Minnie Mouse's colors..

You can also find one of Walt's original cartoons when he very first starting drawing them for a local paper as a boy. I have always said Walt's parks should be considered some of the largest museums.

You are always welcome to walk around the restaurant or ask the staff what they love best there!

Other visits I have enjoyed the 'A Lot of Steak' salad as well as 'Hardy Har Char' Siu Pork.
Both have been delicious!

I believe next time I must enjoy the Signature grilled steak. Always a next time!

One thing I have never done here is the desserts! I am sorry to say!
I have had their Schweitzer Slush which was good but just way too sweet.
They even sell a Jungle Canteen souvenir mug. YES, I do have one. Yes, I am a dork! But it is cute and now all my pens reside in it at my work!
