Gardens of the World Tour available at EPCOT. My review

I did it!

I checked another tour off of my 'to do' list! I was not disappointed either!!

The Gardens of the World tour hosted by EPCOT is a must for all those green thumbs out there! OR also great for the ones who loves to learn how Disney does what they do!

Here is their direct link to the tour

We started off at EPCOT 9am. When you get to the front gates, let them know what you are there for and they will let you in prior to the park opening hours. I always like to enter EPCOT through back gates of International entrance. So much easier.

The meeting place is directly behind Spaceship Earth. There is a little pin store and the Tour check in counter is there as well.

You do have to have a park ticket for this tour as well as pay for the tour, which is $85.00
The tour lasts 3 hours. For ages 12 & up. At the end of the tour, You are provided a typed out information sheet on many of the things learned! You also receive an adorable pin of Spike!

One of the great perks of this tour, you can really enjoy the amazing topiaries around the world showcase without all the crowds around you. You are starting tour at 9am and the World Showcase typically doesn't open until around 11am. You do start in future world and then move into the showcase. You are still dealing with limited crowds in future world as well which is a plus.

On this tour you get to learn how they organize all their many flower/landscaping beds, Fun little facts, what it takes to create all their creations and how they are built up.  It definitely makes you appreciate what all they put into it! We did also get to walk through the Butterfly house.

The tour inspired me to get back into my garden! I have neglected it a few years now but it is time!!

I was able to take some pictures of some wonderful plants that I now want to add to my own beds!

Here are just a few of the Fun Facts I learned.
Heads up for the ones who don't like Spoilers:

It takes 60K plants just to create the layout in one of the Lakes!

They have over 130 floating gardens!!

They have to order their plants for what they have designed 1 year in advance. This means they obviously lay out their plans for their seasonal changes way over a year in advance.

Their topiaries are all made of plant material. I always wondered if the painted ones were truly plant material or just plastics or cements? The faces are mostly made up of Reindeer Moss which is combed out and layered.  The smaller topiaries are usually made of this and other plant material that is not alive. Their larger ones are alive and have irrigation systems built into them so detailed and complex to accurately water the plants as they are needed in each part of the creation.

The countries landscaping is themed after their homelands. They try to use the plans from those lands but if they can't do to climate reasons, they will either find a close genetic relative of the species or a similar looking plant! All the details, I always hope people can appreciate this care and art put into the parks.
If you notice in Norway they have many white ground flowers, it is to look like snow. How neat is that!

In Mexico, they use many red, yellow and orange flowers to match Mexico's colors and landscaping typically seen there. They are also warm colors.

I loved also seeing the trail in the Mexico pavilion (to the right side of their pyramid) that is lined with orchids. It is beautiful! SO many!!! They using a fishing line to help line them on the trees! You don't notice unless you look! Take a gander next time you are there.
