This tour goes over the creation of Discovery Island as well as The tree of Life. Next it moves you behind the scenes for the remainder of the tour.
We went back to the Elephant House/caring area. They touched on their care and elephant facts. You get a much more deeper experience on the elephants than the Caring for Giants Tour which I also highly recommend. They also hit on the other big animals such as the Rhinos!
From here, we went to the Bug House. We got to see where they house all the creepy crawlers that they will bring out to the Adventurer's Club stations. Not only does Animal Kingdom take part in animal species conservation but it also includes the insects as well in helping those forgotten specie extinction danger!
Next was the Kitchen! These Animals eat well!!! They don't get scrap or second quality foods, They get the freshest of fruits/veggies/meats available. They also told us how they wrap special needed dietary or medicines into their food if need be as well as their treats. The treats were pretty funny to see.
They also keep other special items in the kitchen for the animals to add stimuli such as perfumes, glitter (yes glitter) as well as the special treats.
It helps them to experience new things like they would in the wild that their current living quarters just can't always to unfortunately.
Next we went to their learning center where they went over other projects Disney works with. It was nice to see all they do to play a huge part in supporting wildlife and their progress in becoming eco friendly. SO many bash Disney for being a money market but really, they do so much they don't even get credit for. They are a business, yes, but they are also a business that gives back so much. We learned about sea turtles, how to play our parts, how they play a big role in helping sea turtles by protecting their nests, keeping track of the data collected from the nests. I could go on and on from what we learned. The energy and passion each caregiver gave us during the tours was truly interesting! Each year at Vero Beach, Disney's resort hosts a gathering on the last Saturday of July to watch the release of a Sea turtle.
How fun I think!! It definitely made me want to go check it out! How often do you get to see one, a fully grown one in the wild?! ( I was fortunate enough to experience Dive Quest at EPCOT where I dove in the Living seas and swam near the one in there)
While we were in our little class, we were provided souvenir water bottles, waters, and a very cute delicious snack!
After this class we were ushered back over the Rhino house! Our luck we were able to see Frankie, a male white rhino they brought in from another facility to try to help breed with the females there. The females have no interest in Frankie however. They expect to ship him back to another location in a few months. He was massive. You can't truly appreciate their size unless you are really next to them. I was literally like an arms length away. He was of course behind his bars which a human could fit through but he could not. He was the most adorable creature ever! He acted like a giant puppy. He was just pretty with blue eyes. I so wished I could touch him or take his picture the whole time, I was in such awe.

The Cast Members were so nice! They found out it was my son's birthday and provided him two paw/foot prints from the animals in the park! How sweet!

This is where we found out they used their own elephant matriarch's footprint to use as the foot print impressions over by Dumbo in Magic Kingdom! Make sure to look out for them while you are walking over there!

KUDOS to the staff at Animal Kingdom for providing so much care and knowledge!!!

He kept doing his commands so he could get a treat and it was hilarious.
I strongly encourage you to consider this experience on your next trek to Animal Kingdom!
It is fun for me but it was also fun learning fascinating facts with my son! We still talk about it and I appreciate the memory we have of this to share!
