Kennedy Space Center review by Dealing with Disney

Our day at The Kennedy Space Center, Port Canaveral FL

We decided to enjoy this center right after debarkation from a cruise. When leaving a ship, you get off the boat SO early, you pretty have a whole day to enjoy still during your vacation!

From the Port, it was a quick 10 minute drive to the Space center. Very easy. One could also easily pick up a Lyft or Taxi. One could also easily have a car rental for the day.

We immediately drove out to Kennedy Space Center! It was extremely interesting and did keep the attention of all kids but one! The 4 year old was less than thrilled. We couldn't convince her we were not getting in the 'space ship'.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to enjoy everything the facility had to offer. I had come down with severe case of strep the day prior and was not in the best of moods! It could have been me but I think it was more of the guest services that was lacking in courteousness. My only complaint about the facility.
An astronaut is there every day! You can pay extra for a lunch encounter with one.
We learned many fun/interesting facts on our bus tour. The Bus tour takes you by the launching pad, the shuttle 'garage' which is incredible large, it is hard to comprehend unless seeing it in person.  We could not get over the size of everything. The pictures will not do it justice! Easy explanation for this. The pure vast empty space around everything construes the perspective of them.

One thing that also struck awe in me was seeing the massive shuttle carrier pad!! Incredible how large it is. It has to be, I understand but seeing it in person is much different.

I will post a little fact sheet link for reference. Keep in mind the building is taller than 3 Empire State buildings and the Statue of Liberty can fit inside. (CRAZY)
I hope to go back to better enjoy it another time. What is not widely known is that Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge is on the same grounds as space center. Many take advantage and walk through the nature trails.

The capsules and suits made me so claustrophobic just looking at them! Kudos to those brave individuals that go into space.

if you look close, you can see a regular size truck under the shuttle carrier

interesting to see the shield layers on the helmets

I could not imagine getting into this~full adult size and in a suit.. NOPE

Love seeing your child wanting to learn about the facts posted around the center, that is when you know they are enjoying it,
