Disney Family Museum review

If there was a must do for a Disney Fan, The Disney Family Museum is it!

Nestled by the bay in San Francisco, (right near the Golden Gate Bridge)

We were able to Visit the Walt Disney Family Museum!

I cherished this. I was not able to read through everything as I would have loved to do. I had my kids in tow (one being 5), it is just not easily doable. My older kids really enjoyed it (13, 18).

This is truly a museum! I was amazed at everything preserved.

From simple sketches, to the telegraphs sent between Roy & Walt and even a first model car used for Autopia!
I felt so close to Walt himself being there, being with the items that passed through his fingers during his life that created all the magic we have now.
I cherished in the items he kept that gave him his inspiration for things to come.

They had these well made videos in puppet form graphics depicting periods of Walt's life that he himself voiced. I always enjoyed hearing him talk with his little chuckles during his stories.
I remember that while growing up and watching every Sunday, The Wonderful World of Disney. Although he had passed at the age I was watching but I never knew that. I only knew he provided the 'awe' in everything there was.
I read his biography but the museum gave his history life. It was like walking through the book but just so much more!

You could spend a good two hours really going through it all.
You do have to pay for parking. It was about $3.00 per hour.
They offer a gift store (at the end of tour) and a little cafe.
It was a beautiful display. In the face of all the 'NOs' this man with his brother, Roy, managed to push through and create so much for all to enjoy!

Adults are $25.00
Senior Citizens $20.00
Children (6-17) actual children ages $15.00
5 & under free

In the pictures you will see a FULL scale model of Disneyland. This was gigantic!!
Walt collected miniatures, I believe he had every possible miniature item ever made!
You will see the actual chairs him and Lillian sat in that used to be home in his apartment over the firestation of Main Street.
They have one of the 3 multi plan cameras!
This camera is set up that you can actually look down through it from above and can look at it from below.
SO many of his awards are housed here as well! Huge section just on the awards.
