Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party 2019 special features

2019 Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party:

Basically, new stage shows AND a new projection fireworks show!
This is a must see, a must. It was absolutely fanciful, lively, impressive and delightful!

There are always some minor changes.
Jack and Sally met at the Town Square by Mickey this year instead of at the Gazebo.

New desserts to be had!!
Most of the strategy is still in place as far as park touring and enjoying the special event.

They did have a new Descendents Dance party at Cosmic Rays.

Biggest touring tip: Mark your Must dos and do them first, move on to your 'would like to do' after that and then go with the flow of what delights you. The park time will fly by and you won't get to do everything!!! Not the way they keep adding to the parties anyway!

The costumes are a huge deal now! People love dressing up and seeing each other's outfits! Some are so creative! Many guests will take pictures of others or with others-just fully in the spirit of fun!

Don't forget all the cool magic photo shots also available! It seems, new ones are added every year!

This is to focus on special offerings during the party.

Shows/Entertainment
I was bummed I chose not to watch parade. I have seen it plenty and didn't think I would miss it but I did. I watched the Hocus Pocus show since I never made effort to see it. I am not a huge fan like so many others are. I like it but don't love it. I was not in love with the show either. I did enjoy Dr. Facilier and Oogie  Boogie--Loved those parts. I would not make an effort to see it again. Oogie Boogie looked amazing! I would honestly wait in a line to see him for a character M&G!!

I feel if I were to see all the shows offered I would miss out on other options during party that I do prefer over them. To get a great view from taking time saving a seat & the attraction length for each show, one could literally eat away 2.5 hours. It is not worth it to me. The fireworks are great but I have seen them so many times, I am good seeing them while walking around park. I would definitely set aside the parade time again though. It is good that each guests has their priorities, that is what makes it most enjoyable for each. With everything offered during parties now, you really need to attend two nights to get everything done.

Watching the shows:
what are best times especially if they are a must do. I would recommend watching first showings. Main reason is with these dates fall under hurricane season, you never know how the weather will play out. If you watch first ones, you are good and done. If the rain comes and the next shows are cancelled, if won't effect you. On the flip side, the later shows have less crowds.

It is always best to watch the parade at Frontierland where it starts out. This way, you will be first in seeing it and done watching it earlier than the guests sitting at the end of Main Street. You can easily hit attractions afterwards much quicker. For us, the first shows were cancelled due to weather. The later shows went on as normal. It worked for us. I loved claiming a seat on the ground by the taped off lines for parade.

Most notable change was the candy queues!
Previous years there were several multi candy stations in one queue but not this year. Each queue had a single candy station. It was fine, we did get the same haul as previous years. The lines moved quickly in each. The cast members were extremely generous in the handouts as well. (except one girl, who only gave out 2 pieces per person????).  I always felt more satisfied though with the multi station queues, LOL!
Another note to keep in mind. If you are in queue for character M&G or an attraction, one person can go through the closest candy station with everyone's bags for filling! We did this a couple of times. The cast members get it and they don't worry or judge..LOL, I did point to my family while going through the line to prove it wasn't just for me. She laughed and said she didn't care. She stated they get it all the time. We also went through this same line 3 times. They were really being generous in that line!
As always, they provide free trick or treat bags that are plenty big. You can also get more if you fill yours up. I did buy bigger bags since they were cuter..

Attraction highlights:

Gun Powder Pete addition to the Pirates of the Caribbean wasn't quite what it could be.. It fell kind of flat of any real meaning or story behind it.. Supposedly live actors would be in the queue to interact with guests. One actor would tell you to watch out for the notorious 'pirate' and then you find him in the ride. There were no interactive actors in the queue. One guy was at end of queue right before you head into the loading zone with the wanted poster. You do see him in the attraction, but not really understanding the whole thing.. I think they would have been much better off having the live actors do meet & greets around the area instead. My daughter thought 'pete' was just another animotronic, funny.

The Mad Hatter Tea CUPS were so much fun!I loved the new lighting affects. It was SOO pretty and just livelier.  Glimpse of the ride

Space MTN.. WOW.. SO during the party, it is completely DARK. NO Lights and has music playing. IT was EPIC!! Your senses were heightened. I have been on the ride countless times but this experience made it a whole new ride. I strongly recommend it. So fun!!

People Mover.. ok, no affects on this but since Space Mtn is blacked out that means you don't even see Space mtn section while people mover runs through it. My daughter even noticed there was no 'astronaut' scene! Besides, who doesn't love the People Mover???

It did seem also the lighting affects were not as heavy this year as previous years. They used to have spiders or halloween webs projected on buildings or ground and I didn't see as much of that.

We did try some of the special treats available during the party! They were a hit.
Candy Corn Milkshake was ok.. Nothing special. I do love the marshmallow and the cotton candy but the shake is basically vanilla. Besides the appearance of it, I give it a 'B'.

Madame Leota: sorry no picture. The tart was very good. May have to get past the coloring. The 'crystal ball' was like a jaw breaker. It was crazy cool looking in how designed but way to hard to eat. You would have to keep in your mouth most the night to suck on it.

Maleficent Cone: VERY cute!! Chocolate cone with ice cream.
Ice cream was ok, a lime sherbert but My super friend who tried it thought it would have been better if the ice cream had been mint ! I think I agree!!

Jack Skellington Cake Push POP, excellent.. Basically a push pop, yummy cake, chocolate pearls and icing.. Design is adorable. Always a winner!

I ended up not trying many I had intended to. I always have a plan of 'must dos' but when I get there, they usually change quickly. I just don't eat too many sweets anymore and was so full from other foods that I was totally fine not doing it.
I wanted to try the pastry puff at Aloha Isle, that is only one I didn't.

Novelty Items:
I did grab up the Cauldron Popcorn bucket. This is actually available at all parks. Easy to find and grab. I love it. You also can ask them to place the popcorn in another container if you don't want to dirty your cauldron up. This will reside in my house as a halloween decor! LOVE IT! Plus, you do get refillable popcorn from it while park touring! (small cost for refills) but to me it is a two for one item. POPCORN and cool decor!

I also grabbed the Headless Horseman Straw! So, it is a straw that has the headless horseman detachable clip on it. There is also a cool light-up feature on him and the pumpkin head. The horse's eyes light up from small button under horse. The pumpkin lights up from small pumpkin under it. Two separate pumpkins. Three light settings; quick flashing, slower flashing and constant on option. So cute!! Again, it is also since you can attach the horseman clip on anything else you want.

I didn't make it over to Animal Kingdom where they are selling a green poison apple mug but I am begging a friend to pick it up for me!!! I may have a problem with the novelty items!

The characters!
Two main changes to the line up.

Moana was moved into the Tiki room for her M&G! I think this was a smart move. This provides a better back drop and protection from the weather.

Stitch was dressed as Elvis for his M&G inside the former attraction Stitch's Great Escape.
You could spend the entire party night just meeting Characters.
The character queues are longer than pretty much all other attractions.
I wanted to get Lotso and Stitch Elvis done but ended up only doing Lotso.
One friend wanted to do Lotso as well but he went on break right when it was her turn. She decided to leave in order to go see parade. That was her must do over Lotso. I don't blame her. She met back up with us after parade.
I forgot to do stitch and it ended up just a 'to do' if it worked out so I wasn't worried about it.

Always find the start of the queue 30 minutes prior to a scheduled character M&G. Ask the attendants to verify the queue and the time. This is if the character is important to you. Some characters have limited time for M&G while others pretty much stay out total duration time of party. Since each person has their preferences, make a priority list for your family and stake out the times.
All of my clients do receive a character locations and times list.

The Dance Parties!!
These are great opportunities to see characters you don't always get to see and interact with them! The music is fun, lighting is fun, love to dance and just enjoy! My kiddos are TOO shy to interact but they do love to observe from a distance!!! I try to go in and show them it's okay with a little encouragement but I let them have their limit. These dance parties are at Tomorrowland by Space Mountain and Fantasyland near Dumbo.
