We made the Disney's Beignet recipe that Port Orleans French offers by Dealing with Disney

So Disney's Port Orlean's French Quarter Resort offers up these amazing Beignets within their food court.
(they do stop selling them at 3pm however!)

Deep fried Dough topped with mounds of confectionary sugar.
depending on season, they will offer a special flavor twist to the serving.

They are Similar but better to a funnel cake. They are typically square in shape but Disney offers their own version of mickey head ones.

These famous delights are a specialty in New Orleans. I was lucky enough to try them first hand at The Famous Cafe Du Monde -incredible.

When Disney posted their recipes during quarantine, I just had to try!

Well... success but not as good. I feel they left out an ingredient on purpose lol.. Just to show how much better theirs are.

My batch turned out good just not quite as sweet. Ours were not covered in the sugar however.

Few things to think about.
It is time consuming for this recipe.
It will take about 2.5 hours or more

It will make a large portion so we ended up throwing away a good bit BUT on flip side we also had some extra for trial and error with the frying part. We did save a couple but they just don't save the best in general.

The mixing of the ingredients was easy.
The rolling & cutting was easy.
I did have a small mickey bowl -I made most of the squares but a couple in mickey heads. They were a little tricky to cook however.

The frying part was ok.
I get scared with grease. It is a 'me' thing.

We would drop one in and it would quickly sink.
If it is proper temperature it would float back up fairly soon, few seconds.
The dough would sort of balloon up while frying, turn in a minute or so once the the bottom side slightly browns. Watch it for another minute or so for the other side to slightly brown.

It said to get a plate with paper towels to place on once out of fryer. I did that at first but then I just dumped a good bit of the confectionary sugar on the plate so I would immediately place beignet on sugar instead -flip if and sugar it again.

They were good!!! Definitely something to do again but with a larger group!
