ICE exhibit at Gaylord Opryland Hotel

This is my second adventure through the ICE exhibit that Gaylord Resorts offer annually!

It didn't disappoint!
I do appreciate the arts though too!

Walk through attraction to see amazing ice sculptures hand carved (some tools used~by hand)
This year's theme at the Nashville's Gaylord Opryland hotel was The Grinch who Stole Christmas which I am a huge fan of the story! It is amazing the colors they put into the ICE sculptures as well. Hard to tell on some pieces if it is really ice or an object placed there.

Down in the Orlando Gaylord, they had the Peanuts (Charlie Brown) theme.

These enormous sculptures are kept in a building that is set at 9 degrees!! that's right, it was freezing!
They do provide a full thermal coat for each guest. It keeps you pretty warm BUT I recommend bringing gloves, a hat and thick socks. I would not wear a coat but maybe just a thicker shirt. My body was fine under the heavy coat. The previous year I bundled with a coat and the thermal coat and felt like I was going to die from the heat of it.

They have an ice slide that guests can slide down as well. That was a big hit for many!

We were lucky enough to snag promotional rate tickets~ woohoo! always watch for the deals.
Normally the event ticket is approximately $20. per person.

They are sold as general admission but for designated dates. People are led through in time intervals so just arrive when you want and wait for the next group to go in. I realized it would have been best to lag behind in the group. I believe this would give more time without the bulk of the group crowd around us. I could have been able to take more pictures without feeling rushed.

I didn't feel too packed in except around the slide area where people linger more to enjoy the slides.

Quick note on the slide and I still haven't learned the trick. You must keep your coat under your butt to slide otherwise the friction will stop you. My coat kept coming up above my butt, causing me to scoot down the slide with a frozen butt! My son had same problem. I am thinking you could maybe hold the coat between your legs to keep it pulled down??? We had the same problem previous year. ah, well. still fun. You can go down slide as many times as you are willing to wait in the line.

A warning about the temperature affecting your camera or electronic device but I had no issues with mine.

Towards the end of the exhibit they have a very nicely made nativity scene.. simply peaceful.

At the beginning of tour, while holding to go through lines to enter, they have some video monitors showing how pieces are created as well as tools that are used displayed. They even have ICE out there to touch.

Only time I really felt like a penguin
