Disney's Hollywood Studios Brown Derby restaurant review

Disney's Hollywood Studios Brown Derby restaurant review

I recently was able to enjoy The Brown Derby at Hollywood Studios and it did NOT disappoint!

It was a little a little more upscale in setting and cuisine which is a nice change from some of the other restaurant selections. It provided a more relaxed feel, less smaller children presence, a higher end expectation(which was received), relaxed ambiance and great food.

Menu options are limited as typical for this style dining. It was fine for me since I knew exactly what I wanted, steak!

As far as Dining Plan worth: It does require 2 dining credits. I do NOT feel this is a valid use of dining credits. I would suggest paying out of pocket unless you have the points to use and it's a must do with keeping your original point budget. If booking with the Fantasmic dining package, you are much closer to getting your dining credits out of it as well if you are enjoying a spirited drink under the plan.

Our Food Choices:
We were not eating that much and opted out of an appetizer! We came close to ordered the Blue Lump Crab Crispy Wonton.

We did however indulge in the bread. They provided a red Hawaiian salted butter which was so amazing spread over the dinner rolls!

Entrees:
I had the Char-grilled Filet of Beef. It has a Port Wine glaze. I am NOT a fan of port wine glazes. They were able to put that on the side for me.
The sides it comes with are Brussels Sprouts and Sweet Potato Silk & wild mushrooms. I was really preferring the sides that come with the Pork Chop entree which are Yukon Gold Smashed & Asparagus. They were able to switch my sides when I requested. (YEAH and I promise I am normally not picky!!!)

My meal was perfectly prepared and I so enjoyed it!  I still preferred Cali Grill filet with it's garlic Butter! If i were to compare that is.

My brother had the filet how it comes! He also was very happy with it.

My sister in-law had the Duck Breast with came with confit pumpkin ravioli, asparagus. She didn't enjoy the meal too much unfortunately. The duck was TOO fatty from other servings she had in the past. The chef recommend it med rare and which she wished she had it med well instead,
The texture of the ravioli was also not very pleasing to her.

I do recommend this restaurant but it would always depend on your travel party and trip expectations for when I would recommend it.

Take a tour of the famous faces that adorn the walls. Some are quite humorous!
