All Star Movies Resort review

All Star Movies resort is one of the 3 Disney All Star resorts. They sit side by side and all share the Same bus transportation line. This means the bus will stop at each resort on the way to each designated park the bus is assigned to. This can make for some overcrowding. However, They do utilize the extended busses to help carry the guests to/from parks.

The rooms offered are either 2 full size beds or 1 king. You can request a king depending on party size, but not guaranteed. Each has a mini fridge but is not very great. They are about as equivalent as a cooler. It keeps it somewhat cool but not cold.

The All Star resorts belong to the value resorts offered at Disney World. They are currently all going through a massive & over due refurbishment. POP Century resort is one of the Value resorts that is now almost complete with it's makeover. What is interesting for POP is they changed the bed options. 1 queen & a full size sleeper sofa are now what it offered. They also added coffee makers in the rooms. I am seriously hoping for the same at the All Stars! The best part of the upgrades will be the bedding! The new mattresses used are just way more comfy.

While staying at All Star Movies, I saw the workers hauling out decor from the rooms be worked on. That can also be a major improvement. The decor (I believe) currently in there is from the '80's. Even though the construction was taking place, we didn't hear anything but we were also gone most the stay for this trip.

We chose value for this trip for a few reasons; budget minded, short stay and mostly in parks versus taking advantage of resort amenities.

One thing I did hate about the values is there bathrooms. It is tight. Getting in the bathroom around the toilet to shut the door, much less doing this with a little one. Plus the vent coming on with the light switch. It is so loud. This will do for a budget trip, I can work around the inconveniences but if I were staying at a resort for longer period or utilizing the resort more, I would get seriously annoyed after a while.

The great thing about all the resorts is they offer many on-site activities; trivia, pool side movies & games.
When we were there I was actually bummed we could not take part in one of the activities posted. They were hosting to make Tye Dye shirts! How fun. VERY reasonable priced as well for the shirts.
$14.95 & $16.95  (How Fun)

Also, Don't forget some resorts are offering a free gift card in lieu of Mouse Keeping. We opted for this during our stay. We received $30.00 gift card for a 3 night stay! We simply hung our towels to dry. If we did need towels, We could have still requested them. Not all resorts participate in this but always worth asking about.

Value:

Pros:1. Transportation is via bus only. (TO me, this is not a bad thing. The busses are fairly quick and go directly to parks: every 15 minutes) There is also a work around, if you drive, take your car or pay for the Minnie Van. 2. great for budget minded guests. 3. Over size adorable theming of your favorite Disney characters. 4. Great food courts for great variety of food5. All have mini fridges!6. Some values offer family Suites that can accommodate 6 guests (All Star Music and Art of Animation)7. All have pools8. single King bed room do not cost extra9. If not planning on spending much time in resort, great place to crash at night

Cons:1. The All Star Resorts share a bus line. These particular resorts could mean a total of 3 stops prior to getting to or returning from designated destination. One would just need to factor in that time when calculating travel time. (POP & Art if Animation do have dedicated bus lines!!!)2. Beds are either full size or King (but maybe after refurb, could have queens)3. Thin blanket on bed. Can ask for more. 4. All Star resorts are your older resorts. POP and Art of Animation are the newest of the Values. 5. All Star Sports can host many child group travels. Which could be louder when the groups are together. I have seen the cheer squads practicing on resort grounds before when there. 6. mini fridges act more like coolers than fridges, not very cold

*When looking at resorts, one needs to look at all factors in how they are wanting to experience the parks. It is also important to have realistic expectations while at parks.

Do you plan on visiting all parks? What is budget? How large is family?Ages of children if have them?

Example; You have a monorail resort. It works great for getting to Magic Kingdom but how easy is it for EPCOT? You have to take two monorails to get to EPCOT from a Magic Kingdom Monorail Resort. The time needs to be factored in. The question then becomes, is it faster to wait in line for two monorails or to take a direct bus to the intended park?

However, another factor could play into this equation. Do you have small kids that you plan to mainly push in a stroller. Do you want to roll them onto the Monorail never having to take them out and fold up when getting on/off busses? Two monorails lines may be worth not fooling with folding up the darn strollers!
If you plan on only visiting one park a day, this may be fine to deal with only twice a day(arrival/leaving) and to just take the bus!

Many options, categories, activities, locations & Decor to choose from. Question is, which is best for you. Not what others prefer but what you prefer!

All resorts offer a movie sitting area a photo op area!
