Disney Riviera Resort experience by Dealing with Disney

Disney’s Riviera Resort,  the newest Disney resort that opened late December of 2019

This is a new favorite resort of mine offering so many perks at this location!

The Riviera is a new member of the DVC (Disney Vacation Club resort) but is also available to general guests.

This European inspired resorts offers inspirational views , beautiful architecture, elaborate oversized mosaic tile work that just leaves you in awe!

The hotel has a simple layout with a central building with East wing and West wing extensions. The West wing is closest to the Skyliner station. The East wing is closest to the Bus stand.

I would recommend requesting a higher level floor for best views.

This resort offers Direct bus transportation to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs. The busses can also assist to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios but the wait will be longer for these parks. The recommended transportation to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios would be via The Disney Skyliner.

The Rooms:

The deluxe studio rooms are absolutely perfect in comfort and the space design is perfectly utilized.

They have a pull down full size murphy bed as well as a queen size pull down queen bed allowing up to 5 guests within a studio.

Majority of other resort studio rooms only allow for a 4 max occupancy put this studio above the others.

Two showers are available within the studio as well allowing multiple guests to get ready at the same time. The showers are separate from the vanity station so a third could also be utilizing this area.

The Studio rooms offer a Kitchenette and the Main DVC rooms offer a full kitchen.

The kitchenette has microwave, large mini fridge, coffee/tea maker, sink and paper/plastic kitchenware.

A nice entry way leads you into the main studio. A nice size closet holds extra blankets/pillows, luggage holder and ironing board with iron.

With the Queen bed put away, you have a sofa and coffee table for a nice little sitting area. Plenty of storage space. Drawers pull from the main bed as well as the closet space.

One shower offered standing but a built in bench, two shower head options as well. The second shower was the standard tub style -easier to bathe kiddos.

Riviera being a DVC resort offers 1, 2 and 3 bedroom rooms as well as the studio rooms.

We stayed in a standard Studio not realizing how awesome our view could possibly be over the parking lot! Let me tell you, I loved out view from our balcony! We got to overlook EPCOT !

Just imagine if the night-time shows were being performed, what a view that would be. I would have that view over the pool/water view any day!

Both wings of the resort have a chance of overlooking Hollywood Studios, EPCOT water/pool view.

The European design of this resort is fully captured from the grounds , the architectural design and artwork throughout the resort. What I loved most about the décor was all the movie posters and pictures of Walt –they were on every hallway you went down. The history hanging on these walls is just amazing. It was fun seeing the glimpses of Walt’s life/experiences captured in the photos. The posters were foreign release advertisements of all the films Walt and his artists created. Talk about Nostalgia seeing them!

The Amenities

Two pools are offered here and they sit pretty much next to each other. The resort is pretty compact which provides some intimacy yet large enough to be grand. A hot tub is located at each gated pool. There is also a beautiful Splash water play area for the smaller kids with a Fantasia overlay. A Towered slide is available at the larger family pool reminiscent of Rapunzel’s tower.

An event Room (Eventi) is available, hosting painting options (you pay for-cost $6-$12 per item)

The room is open from 11-7 (again always check times)

You can paint ceramics such as piggy banks, film cells or design a glass/tumbler with tons of vinyl sticker options available!

In the evening, family movies are hosted here for all to enjoy.

Movies on the lawn are held nightly by the main pool (weather permitting)

Activity lawn:

Bocce Ball Court ( you need to ask for the balls)

Family bench style swings

Fire pit available

Beach sitting area with over sized chairs-so you can enjoy nightly views

Fitness Center-large beautiful but it is very open with a high traffic area (that is not my favorite feel)

Small Disney store is available in the main lobby. They have standard Disney novelties along with small grocery items available.

We loved our balcony and were really able to enjoy the relaxation/view it offered.

The resort is on the higher end of Deluxe since it is a DVC resort but middle price range of all the DVC resorts. The studios can start around $600+ per night.

Hopefully Disney will start offering promotions again to knock the price down.

The advantages this resort offers can be worth the up-pay, from room layout offerings, location, skyliner advantage and views!

Dining:

This resort does host Topolino’s Terrace which offers a Character breakfast and fine Italian cuisine for dinner. It sits on the top floor offering a scenic panoramic view. After your done with your meal, go relax on the terrace! An outdoor bar (Flavors of the Riviera) is on the terrace making it a great place to enjoy a cocktail & relax.

Their quick service (Primo Piatto-translates into first course) was pretty delightful, we enjoyed it every day there.

For breakfast we shared the Mickey waffle entrée which came with 4 standard mickey waffles and 4 pieces of bacon. This was easy to share between two and be more than enough.

For Dinner one night we had the Spicy Italian Sandwich, it was so delicious! I definitely did NOT share this.

Another large bar (Bar Riva)  sits near the main pool and adjacent to the Quick service. The bar will also serve limited food items as well.
