Disney Springs Phased COVID opening experience via Dealing with Disney

SO…

my COVID experience at Disney Springs.

Most have already heard the deal but here is my experience.

Temp checks of course upon entry.

Some parking decks are still closed.

Masks still required and yes, they will loudly remind you if not wearing it correctly.

So over the mouth and nose!

Disney would love to sell you their adorable masks! 4 for $20.00 which honestly is not a bad price for re-usable ones.

They are cute but THICK.. -makes it hotter.

Some have complained about the sizes? I got a large which fit me.. One thing, I was hoping my mask adjustment strap would work on them but it would not, the ear straps were too thick to hook properly on my particular adjustment strap. I did cut a sliver form the ear loops thickness to reduce it, they now fit on the extension.

One thing I think is DUMB with the Disney Mask! They put a product tag on the inside of the mask.. seriously -right where your mouth would be.. A HUGE tag.. so you need scissors to remove this nuisance.

There are 3 fabric layers.. now You could technically cut out one layer.. I am so sure NO One would do that though..

Gaiters –huge controversy if these are acceptable or not as a mask.

They are officially NOT allowed per disney.. Masks also must have two layers of fabric.

Definitely LOW crowds. We walked right into World of Disney one day but next day, there was a 45 minute wait. You were required to register for a virtual queue. It was sprinkling so I am not sure if this was the reason for the queue need or not. The place didn’t appear any busier than the previous date attended.

We loved the Christmas Store and the Art of Disney (our classic must go-to places)!! We loved Goofy’s Candy Factory. I was surprised to see the fill your own candy service was still available! I saw some guests taking advantage of this as well, filling their yummy personal candy bags! I know some candy stores have discontinued this. They instead are offering pre-filled bags of candies instead. That is NO fun! We didn’t purchase any but mainly because we loaded up on candy already for our road trip. Sadly, many places were still closed; BBB, The Void, Rainforest Café….All stores it seems have designated entrances and exits. There are signs to help you with this.  SOOOO more people pushed in through a single door versus optional spreading of multi entrances.. ok. I will play along.

The little Merry-go-round was up and running. The guests riding it did not have to wear a mask which surprised me. It was a good surprise! Hope it stays!

One thing that really irks me with the ‘mask’ debate.. I have problems with illogical processes. I don’t agree with it but it is their rule and I accepted it when making my decision to go.

My issue is--you will be reprimanded if not properly wearing a mask around Springs. ‘It MUST be worn’.. they have storm troopers for cute reminders (oh the irony of the tyrannical Dark side now fully ruling over us—not quite the joke since it is real).. BUT that is beside the point. How is it totally acceptable to have your mask off just because you are holding a drink or ‘eating’ while walking around? Don’t get me wrong, I will take this weird covid blocker and use it to my advantage. I will not understand the logic behind it. I carried my drink in hand, my mask was pulled off and not a peep from anyone. I did have two cast members look at me . I could see the eagerness in their eye to give a shout out but sadly saw the cup in my hand and crept back under the rocks from where they hid. I don’t blame them with the new magical annoyance they are providing. It is the job that was given to them and they are just abiding by it.

**UPDATE** policy has changed. they no longer allow strolling with mask down while eating. they ask you to stay stationary...

All in all, it was a good day to experience and get out of the house. I hope these fears, phases pass soon so we can get back to our normal.

We ended the day wit Wetzels Pretzels.. oh man, those never disappoint. I know it is a chain that can be found so many places!!! They are just so yummy and hit the spot!!
