Disney Churro Recipe review by Dealing with Disney

I tried to make the Disney churro using Disney's recipe.

Here is how it went...

Let me start with, I am not the best in the kitchen.
They did turn out pretty good though even with my skill level.

This so far has been the easiest recipe I have dealt with of Disney's.

Recipe is Very simple, pretty quick to make (maybe 25-30 minutes for a slow person ) and turned out pretty tasty. The whole family gave it a thumbs up.

UPDATE:
I tried it again!!
This time when I made it, I put it in the fridge over night, I was trying to save time and prepped ahead!
This worked out way better.
It made the dough more manageable.
I did cut the whole larger in the piping (ziplock bag). it was too big but I was able to just roll it in hands like play-doh to make longer and thinner.
Worked great!!

Here is DIRECT LINK to the recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups vegetable or canola oil
  • ½ cup sugar
Instructions
  1. Combine water, butter, salt, and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon in 1 ½-quart saucepan over medium heat. Bring pot to rolling boil.
  2. Reduce heat to low.
  3. Add flour and stir vigorously until mix forms a ball. Remove from heat and let rest for 5-7 min.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, and stir until combined. Set aside.
  5. Using caution, heat oil in medium skillet or 1-quart saucepan over medium-high heat or until temperature reaches 350˚.  (THIS PART, use extreme caution, the oil kept popping so high --it scared me. After we put the churro mix in, it did pop less.)

  1. Spoon dough into piping bag fitted with large star tip. Pipe 1-inch strip of dough over saucepan, cut with knife, and drop into hot oil. Repeat until churro bites fill saucepan with room to fry. (we didn't have a star tip and just used a bag without any tip.. But I cut it small so our churros were almost like large fries lol... make sure to cut the tip end large enough)

  1. Fry churro bites until golden brown. Remove with slotted spoon or mesh spider strainer.
  2. Drain churro bites on paper towel.
  3. Mix sugar and ½ teaspoon cinnamon in medium bowl. Toss in churro bites until coated. Place on serving plate and serve with favorite dipping sauce.  (Don't wait too long to coat the churros so that the mixture can attach to them properly, they cool pretty quickly!!! we ended up just putting them right into the mixture after taking out of oil.)

Helps to have my little helper with me!!!
