Disney World A park touring day outside the norm by Dealing with Disney

A different type of Disney experience:

We were headed for an impromptu trip with all my kids; 19, 14, 7! A rare treat when the kids start getting older.  I am blessed they all still love Disney though.
So what type of trip would be best for us?
The trip was in the middle of summer (Mid July), we had kids who had different preferences for thrill or regular attractions and vast age ranges.
We also had limited days. 4 days total. Two days are spent mostly driving (6-7 hours).

We chose a moderate resort: this provided the room we needed for our party of 5 and comfort level we wanted. We decided to save a little with moderate instead of deluxe to use funds for experiences.
We decided to do after hour event parties the entire trip and a tour! We figured we could hang around resort, enjoying the amenities during day. This would allow us to sleep in a tad from late nights. We would not have to deal with horrible heat of the summer. The cost of 3 special event tickets really averaged out to only a little more than a 3 day park ticket would have cost. Over-all Cost wise, not a big difference but it made a huge positive difference in our experience.
Here was our ultimate itinerary.
Day 1, Arrival :5 pm
Had dinner at resort in food court. (that was a mistake but will provide that in another blog)
Most of my foods at food courts have been good or great, I would say 90 % of the time.
Duds will happen.
Magic Kingdom-arrived at 7pm for the Villain’s After Hour Party

Day 2,
Hung out at resort, enjoyed pool, rested and had lunch at resort.
We then headed for our next special ticket event; Hollywood Studios After Hour Event.

Day 3,
Sense of Africa Tour: started at 6:45am.
Now this was a tough morning. We did not go to bed until about 2am and had to get up early for our tour. It was WELL worth it. (See my review of the tour here)
We did rest as soon as we got done with this tour when back in the room.
Later we went to the pool and then on to Disney Springs for Dinner at The Edison.
Back to the room from Disney Springs.
On to H2Glow Party at Typhoon Lagoon. This is my kids favorite water park. Now they are happy with both parks but this is their ‘go-to’ Mainly due to the wave pool and the massive ‘wave’ that they have.

Day 4: Disney Springs again before heading home!
So, we had a super fun busy trip! We did have plenty of down time that we were able to rest and recover with.
We got so much out of this trip in the short time and I believe it was all because it was done with the special event options that we were able to take advantage of.
The kids all got along! Disney Magic indeed!
We had fun and memorable experiences!
This was one of my top favorite trips!

My advice: Don’t be afraid to go outside the norm. SO many chat groups tell you what you ‘must’ do to have the perfect vacation. It is usually based off their needs. Each family is different and can enjoy different things. There are so many ways to enjoy Disney! Make sure you do it with what is best for your family, not someone else’s!
