Da 7 castaway cay day on our Western Caribbean Disney Fantasy Cruise
Day 7.. sigh but we were ready.. we loved everything we had experienced and were definitely ready to enjoy our last day.
This was a day at Castaway Cay for us! We were blessed with perfect weather considering it was in February. The weather can change so easily during the February dates.
Had breakfast at Cabanas at 9am. We wanted to take a casual approach to this day. No rushing or worrying allowed. Things can work out with a great attitude!
While walking on Island, we decided to walk instead of taking the tram which takes you from boat to main beach areas. Not a bad walk at all.
We did see the castaway 5k runners still coming in from their race. The Brave souls.
We stopped to meet Goofy. Could have met few other characters but kids had no interest and I guess I had no say! Haha!
We had bike rental reservations, no designated time for this, you just reach the Bike shack and secure your bikes fo r an hour rental. My little one decided she didn’t want to. I decided I didn’t want to deal with her and gave in! The Cast Member told me we could redeem our bike rental for a float rental if we wanted to. That was so nice since the rental reservations are non-refundable. The cast member was also so nice to let us know it would be okay if we took longer than the allowed hour for the bike use! How cool was that!
Off went the boys while me and the little one headed to the beach. SO many chairs were taken and I started second guessing myself on the leisurely stroll to the island. But wait, what did I spy, why 4 perfect beach lounges with an umbrella just sitting there perfectly waiting for us! NICE
We set our stuff down and headed to the water. Not too crowded. Water was definitely chilly but once you got in it was easy to get used to. We played and played! Finally our family finished their ride and found us at the beach. It was now time for lunch.
We at at Cooky’s around 12.
We headed right back to the beach to play some more when done with lunch.
I did take my older son over the water playground area to hit the slides. After warming up from lunch it was a hard adjustment to get back into water to swim to the water platform. They also had pretty good lines so after our 1 slide we decided it just was not worth the wait for another slide.
As we were done, we decided to take a gander in the stores! The island had a special exclusive backpack only available there as a special buy item. If you spent $60, you could purchase backpack for $20. There was nothing I could justify to buy just for the backpack and I was so bummed. Luckily, I was with another amazing cast member who offered to sell it to me at the special price, she said ‘I know you spent the required amount onboard so I can definitely help you out’!!! Love super helpful nice and understanding people! They are the BEST.
Grabbed some snow ones ($4. Each), jumped on the tram and headed back to the boat. We got onboard at 2:45pm
We really enjoyed ourselves relaxing on the beach, played some with kids in water but also able to sit in chair with my feet just in the shoreline. It was perfect!
Headed to room, got cleaned up and rested some with a movie playing via their direct TV stream options.
Headed off to Dinner.
Came back and started cleaning & packing.
Went to our final Disney production show, Believe. It was packed but we did our usual arrival 30 minutes prior (right when doors open) and secured perfect seats.
After show we browsed stores a tad again but they were also pretty busy with last minute shoppers.
Got back to our room and finished packing. We packed everything we didn’t need and had our ‘to-go’ bags with us. We drove and planned to get off as soon as they cleared customs to open port..
We took our bags with us in morning. The options they have are as follows.
*If flying and using Disney Transportation, you set your bags out by your cabin night prior. DIsney will come and secure bags with the tags supplied (left in cabin night prior) and take bags onto transportation modes, you will see them again when you land at airport destination end.
*If driving, they will take luggage and have at port/customs where you can re-claim them.
*take luggage yourself in morning and just go through customs. This is what we chose.
The boat arrived at port at little after 5am.
Another family member kept repeating this to me. I kept reassuring them they still would not be disembarking boat until around 7-7:30am. They insisted I was wrong.
Either way, we both agreed we wanted to get ready early to head home as soon as the port cleared us via customs to disembark.
There is always.a mad rush every morning of the last day with all the guests getting they luggage and getting to midship to leave. Starting at 7am, it becomes a mad house. The elevators get full of guests with their luggage. Many will walk down the stairs. At times, it is easier to take an ‘up’ elevator to just ride it back down. We left our cabin at 6:25am and it was very light crowd. there were only a couple of families in front of us at midship in line to disembark.
Many people were enjoying their last breakfast onboard or taking pictures around boat.
7:15am, customs cleared us and we left. Quickly rolled through the customs line and our shuttle to our parking center was already there waiting on guests. We board the shuttle and left for the parking center at 7:26am.
Although we loved having all our food covered under tha cruise packaging , we were seriously craving our ‘home’ foods. We hit Chick-Fil-A quick was a wonderful most delicious breakfast!!
We made it home in very reasonable time to have our favorite local pizza for dinner.
What a wonderful trip!!
Ignore the date.. I didn't correct it!!! |
nothing better than relaxing with your loved ones! |
